  • The Oriental Orthodox Church is the ancient Christian Church, established by Jesus Christ Himself, in the year ~33 AD (Mt. 16:18). It is composed of the Coptic, Syriac, Armenian, Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Indian Orthodox Churches. Today, Orthodox Christian parishes can be found in all areas of the world, “from the East to the West” (Mal. 1:11).

The word, “Oriental,” from the Latin word, “orientalis,” meaning “Eastern,” is used to signify the historical truth that the Orthodox Church is made up of, and is the never-ceasing continuation of, the many patriarchates which were established in the Eastern regions of the world, by, and during the days of, the Apostles.
